LET'S START FROM SCRATCH.
1 Drain and clean your spa with any mild household (nonabrasive) cleaner.
2 Clean filter, refill and heat up to 70 or more.

For Ozone, Chlorine,
Bromine or any type of water purifier to keep your water sparkling
clean, the Alkalinity 
and pH 
must be within the ideal 
range. See test strip label below.
4 Before testing the Alkalinity and pH, the Chlorine must be below 5 or Bromine must be below 6, otherwise you may not get a accurate reading. If Chlorine or Bromine is too high, bring it down with THIO-TRINE (sodium thiosulfate crystals) after reading the label on bottle and with jet pump running.
5 Test your Alkalinity first because the Alkalinity will affect your pH reading later. If Alkalinity is low, add a little baking soda (Sodium Bicarbonate). Broadcast just one table spoon at a time to bring it up. Wait about 5 minutes before checking it again and that's with the water above 70 and jet pump running.
6 Test your pH after balancing your Alkalinity. The pH may be a little high after bringing up the Alkalinity with baking soda. Bring your pH down, if you need to, with a little muriatic acid (Be sure to read the warning label on the muriatic acid bottle). Add just a plastic teaspoonful at a time with pump running to bring the pH down and give it about 5 minutes before checking it again.
7 Now, with the Alkalinity and the pH balanced, you may add the purifier of your choice.
