DO NOT MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENT UNTIL YOU'RE SURE THE WATER FLOW IS OK. IT COULD BE YOU JUST HAVE A DIRTY FILTER, SOMETHING ELSE SLOWING DOWN THE CIRCULATION OR THE WATER LEVEL IN THE SPA IS TOO LOW. THE PRESSURE SWITCH MAY JUST BE DOING IT'S JOB.
The following is for a qualified person who has read the disclaimer (click here). Power to Spa Pack must be turned OFF at breaker box and checked with a voltage meter to be sure power is OFF.
The pressure switch is a safety switch that is supposed to turn off the heater if there is no water flow or not enough water flow through the heater to keep it from melting everything around it.
The pressure switch switches on with water pressure to complete the circuit for the heater to go on. The water pressure will be influenced to turn on or off the pressure switch by 1. the power of the pump 2. by the distance the pressure switch is below the level of the water 3. something obstructing water flow on the suction line like a dirty filter.
1. If your spa pack is mounted lower than normal in relation to the level of the water, you may need to adjust toward the 5 PSI mark . 2. If there is a clicking sound along with the red light going on and off you may need to adjust toward the 1 PSI mark. 3. If the pump is at low speed, there is a demand for heat from the thermostat and the red light is off, you may need to adjust toward the 1 PSI mark (this symptom could also be a bad thermostat or relay).
1. THE FACTORY HAS ADJUSTED THE PRESSURE SWITCH AND PUT A SPOT SEAL ON THE LOWER THREADS. TO ADJUST THE PRESSURE SWITCH: WITH ELECTRICITY OFF, YOU MUST FIRST TURN THE ADJUSTMENT WHEEL COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO BREAK THE SPOT SEAL ON THE THREADS.
2. REMOVE THE TWO YELLOW WIRES FROM THE PRESSURE SWITCH AND CONNECT YOUR OHM METER TO THE PRESSURE SWITCH. THE SWITCH SHOULD BE OPEN OR HAVING NO CONTINUITY. IF YOU HAVE CONTINUITY, TURN THE ADJUSTMENT WHEEL CLOCKWISE UNTIL THE PRESSURE SWITCH IS OPEN.
3. WITH PRESSURE SWITCH OPEN, SLOWLY TURN THE ADJUSTMENT WHEEL COUNTER CLOCKWISE JUST UNTIL THE PRESSURE SWITCH IS CLOSED OR HAVING CONTINUITY. NOW, TURN THE ADJUSTMENT WHEEL CLOCKWISE ABOUT A HALF TURN PAST THE POINT YOUR OHM METER SHOWS NO CONTINUITY.
BELOW IS THE NEW LEN GORDON PRESSURE SWITCH USED ON THE NEW CLASS ACT
AND FOR REPLACEMENT ON ALL CLASS ACTS. BE SURE TO UNLOCK THE ADJUSTMENT WHEEL BEFORE ADJUSTING.
